We have been associated with the Waste Industry for many years, both with regard to landfill site works and waste transfer and more recently biogas and composting facilities.  Works have included the construction of waste transfer stations, extension of existing buildings and associated roads, drainage, and security and operating equipment.  We undertake the construction of waste transfer and recycling facilities on both a Design and Construct, and Build Only basis.

Our experience of landfill sites ranges from initial site development through to final capping and restoration using a wide variety of materials and techniques, including the relocation of special and hazardous materials under environmental and health procedures.

Milegate Landfill Site

Sandsfield Gravel Company
£150,000.00

The works consisted of the excavation in existing base of quarry and form new clay lined cell for future disposal of waste. Works involved the forming of the base of the cell to pre-determined levels and gradients. After which, a 1m thick clay liner was placed using ‘on site’ materials.

The finished layer of engineered clay was covered with a 1m thick leachate drainage layer made up of shredded tyres. Various diameters of leachate drainage pipe was laid on the base of the cell and up the 1: 2.5 slope to the west end of the site. New leachate monitoring points were constructed in the base of the cell.
